Red Line: The Red-Line Zone is an exercise science term used to indicate when your maximum heart rate has reach 90-100%. In layman’s terms, it means you’ve done some hard work and your heart is beating fast. Our Red Line classes typically feature “MetCon” (Metabolic Conditioning) exercises that will get your heart rate up, allowing you to burn calories, and over time, improve your cardiac ability so you can work harder for longer periods of time. Movements in these classes may include running, burpees, wallballs, AirDynes and rowing. These are great for any level of fitness!
CrossFit: These classes have been designed to combine strength work + a MetCon that will likely include some form of a barbell movement and/or gymnastics skill. Because the programming will often include movements that need to be at a certain level of proficiency to prevent you from getting injured, you can only attend these classes once you have graduated from Big Shoulders Academy. These classes are great for building strength, increasing aerobic capacity, and improving cycling time.
Barbell: Led by our most experienced weightlifting coaches, barbell classes are for those looking to improve the Olympic lifts (snatch and the clean + jerk) without worrying about a timer counting down. Whether you’re looking for a PR or preparing for a weightlifting meet, you’ll want to attend these classes to improve positions, master your footwork, and improve your speed under the bar. (Note: Barbell classes are different from Barbell Club. Learn more about that here!)
Yoga: Not your typical yoga classes, these sessions are designed with mobility for athletes in mind. The classes will help you gain more mobility and flexibility, and help you relax and de-stress.
