Beth Sroka
Owner, Yoga/Mobility Instructor
RYT200

Beth is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher (RYT) who set out to train and study with athletes in order to merge functional fitness/weightlifting training with yoga techniques for performance improvement. She has been practicing yoga for over a decade and began studying to become a teacher in 2014. Before moving back to Chicago, she trained under Grace Morales, a pioneer in the Charlotte yoga scene. Beth has worked with numerous strength athletes, including the weightlifting team at MDUSA. Her classes are powerful, fun and relaxing. Every class includes incredible playlists ranging from Motown to acoustic Michael Jackson covers, and ends with a cooling towel and a pressure point massage.

Beth was born and raised in the South suburbs, and moved to South Carolina for a few years when her husband Tom was training on Team MDUSA. She has a B.A. in English & Business from Monmouth College and has spent nearly a decade as a marketing copywriter and advertising manager.

What's your favorite thing about coaching?
I love helping people feel better. The highest compliment you can give me after a yoga class is, "Gosh, I have never felt better."

What are your goals for the year?
Personally, I'm working on being less critical of myself. Professionally, I'm pushing myself to be more engaged and to bring new ideas to the table at my day job (I work in Marketing). At BSCF, my goal is to introduce as many people as I can to my style of athletic yoga, and to change any preconceived notions they might have of what yoga is!

What is your favorite song?
That's a tough one. I can't pick just one, so I'm going to say "Come to Me" by the Goo Goo Dolls, "Little Black Dress" by Sara Bareilles, and "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. And, I'd say anything by Journey, but that's a given.

When you're struggling, what quote do you use to motivate yourself?
"If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough."

Anything else we should know?
I speak fluently in Will Ferrell movie quotes. I have three obnoxious but awesome dogs (Murdock, Millie and Cece). I have written four novels and hope to publish at least one eventually! I am the opposite of a morning person and do not function without coffee. My biggest fault is I help others to the extent of not helping myself enough, but I'm a work in progress!
